KoBoToolbox is a suite of tools for field data collection for use in challenging environments. The software is free and open source. It allows data collection using Android enabled mobile devices and data submission to an online server. This training will equip the participants with skills to develop, implement and manage mobile data collection platform using KoboToolbox.
About this course
In the past, data collection was performed using paper and pen, which made it prone to error, difficult to conduct on a large scale, and high in transaction costs. Now a days, mobile devices and software that allow users to create surveys, collect, manage, and upload data to storage facilities in real-time have reduced the conventional challenges associated with remote data collection. One of the commonly used tools is KoBoToolbox
KoBoToolbox has been used to conduct one-off surveys, rapid assessments, baseline studies, project mid-term evaluation, project end-term evaluation, market research, during and directly following disasters, track outbreaks and in many other cases. This course is a hands-on, step-by-step guide that will teach learners how to set up, administer and manage a mobile-based data collection platform using KoBoToolbox.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Setup an account in KoBoToolbox.
Create any survey form that can be used for the data collection on mobile devices and on web browsers.
Visualize, manage, and analyze data in KoBoToolbox.
Map data in KoBoToolbox.
Collect data on mobile devices and browsers.
Extract/Export data from for analysis and manage collected data.

He has master’s degree in Management.
He has been working for Tearfund UK-Bangladesh as Design Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning Coordinator and has history of working about 14 years with both international and national organisations (NGOs) in various projects’ quality assurance and project management roles in the urban and rural communities in Bangladesh.
In professional engagement with different organisations Sonny DCosta successfully established community based monitoring, evaluation, feedback and complaint system and built capacity a significant number of project personnel on MEAL issues. For functionality of organisational Adaptive Management, he plays an important role through quality project identification, project design and planning, collecting, analysing and using MEAL information in different sectors and stakeholders
